God Bless the USA...

From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli
We will fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title, United States Marine!

Anchors Aweigh, My Boys, Anchors Aweigh...
Farewell to college joys, we sail at break of day-ay-ay-ay
Through our last night on shore, drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more,
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home.

Then It's Hi! Hi! Hey!
The Army'son its way...
Count off the cadence loud and strong (TWO, THREE!)
For where e'er we go, you will always know
That the Army Goes Rolling Along.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun now!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one helluva roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!

To all that have served, all that are serving, all that will serve...God Bless You! May our prayers be with you, we THANK YOU! To my dad, I'm proud of you for many reasons, but your service to country is a honor that can never be taken away...thank you dad! To Steve's father, brother, numerous uncles, friends and family and countless men and women we will never meet - God Bless You All~

Everybody Clap Your Hands....

Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.....

Slide to the left...slide to the right....if only it were that easy!!! I would like to introduce you to the greatest invention for the woman on "the move" - furniture that is. I found these affordable plastic, round, slider gadgets at Lowes and they are worth every penny. Simply slide them under your furniture and you too will be sliding sofas, chairs, armoires, tables from one room to another :)

The problem is, I've been sliding too much. I am not kidding that my family room has been in about 5 or 6 different arrangements in the past few weeks, and sadly tomorrow morning it goes back to it's original place...boring I know.

I have been this way since forever. I have no idea where I get it as I am not sure my mother ever moved a thing. It drives me crazy, gave me official nickname of Danny Tanner and haunts me on a regular basis - the need for change.

I have worked on this last little project for about 6 hours today...finally finished and exhausted. I moved my 3-part entertainment unit that was split in 3 different rooms, into our small front room off the entry of our house. It used to be a tiny office, then a little retreat (for I don't know what) and now it's something new...again. Two injuries, bruised and knot on the knee from hitting the staircase (moving all the "stuff" up and down) and a slit on my leg from dropping the "Alaska" knife Big Daddy received as a souvenir from Taylor's trip...but here is the finished project...

Welcome to the library...shhh!

For the Love of the Game...

I don't know why but I've been missing child #3 a lot lately. I guess it's because baseball season is in full swing (no pun intended), college is winding down and for the first time in f-o-r-e-v-e-r we have no dog in the hunt. I don't know, I've just been missing the little stinker. I did discover video chat - love it! But all the sentiment has had me in the grip of some fairly strong emotions.

He's playing his first full season in the minors...and all that implies. Of course there is the daily workouts, but more interesting is hearing how they find creative ways to fill the "down" time. Let's just say his latest is an iPhone app that adds mullets and such to pictures. I think he's in heaven!

He has been blessed beyond measure. We know it, he knows it, we all walk in gratitude each day. Your job is baseball...it is a good thing. He loves the game and most days the game loves him.

Only God knows where the road will take him, what he'll see, opportunities he'll be presented with. I pray he'll always remember why he plays the game and what is really important. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then let's just see the picture and I'll stop talking.

For My Chicks...

What a great day. So blessed to be a Mother. It was a great day of being together with our extended family...always fun. This year 2 of the chicks were MIA but close in my heart.

I thought it would be fun to sift through a few pictures (I love sifting) and try to share a couple of then and now moments. Most of you know that I am not very technical, so pictures are copied to my iPhone and then transferred to the blog...losing a LOT of quality - sorry. Hopefully you still get the idea.

I always have so much fun looking at pictures. I had a couple I really wanted to use but knew at least one child would stop speaking to me! The pictures bring back so many memories.

The journey has been so good. We have been through a LOT! Cheerleader tryouts, practices, Nationals, football games, pep rallies, tennis matches, basketball games, soccer games, hockey games, baseball games, school plays, school awards, church activities, church plays, HS graduation, countless slumber parties, church lock ins, church camps, mission trips, ski trips, family vacations (fun, fun, fun)!

We've been to the ER, been in the hospital, spent countless days together at Tender Ages (family business child care), put on Christmas plays, mended broken arms, collar bones and even a few broken hearts. We've cried tears of joy, wiped tears of pain, buried 3 family dogs and 2 rabbits.

We've survived 3 student drivers, one night of "mudding" in a non-mudding vehicle (you decide who did that), 2 chicks moving "out of bounds" (further than Dallas), Jolly Jills (don't ask), raising 2 girls, raising 1 boy...enough said on both counts, multiple prom nights, 1 chick attending college near Bourbon Street, girlfriends, boyfriends...the list goes on.

We've celebrated one wedding - adding one more nut to our zoo, 2 college graduations (whoop! x 2), *one more college graduation to come, work promotions, new jobs, moves to Austin, move from NY to Dallas, signing with Tulane baseball, signing pro-baseball with Giants, cancer remission, first houses, new puppies....the list is long and still growing!

We fuss over pictures for the Christmas card every year, but you always give in! Thank you, those pictures mean the world to me...YOU mean the world to me.

I'm not sure why God blessed me with all of you...my cup runneth over!!! I recently read a sign that sums up a little something of how I feel about the privilege of being your Mother..

~I have children. I have lost my mind but found my soul~

Thank you for making the word Lois, Mom, Mum, Mommy, Danny, Mother, Crazy,...music to my ears.

P.S. I Love You...

My Mother~

What a blessing and gift you are in my life! In thinking about you, all the things we've shared and done...it's hard to really know where you end and I begin. We've traveled so many roads together. Some we chose, others chosen for us, some fun, some painful, but never alone, we always had each other. No words could ever express my love, my gratitude for what you mean to all of us. I hope I'm half the Mother you are to me....

I could take a trip without you, but it wouldn't be nearly as fun...Grand Cayman

From May until September, you can always be found pool side!

I don't think ANYTHING has ever been more fun than New York...

Ahh...sweet and pretty! You are both, always have been, always will be. You make things fun. You taught us the value of family and being there for each other.

Party Girl! Loved by all, including Elton and Billy Jean King...who knew!

You do it all! Six Flags, baseball games, football games, tennis matches, recitals, concerts, more baseball, trips, shopping, eating nachos, photo shoot assistant :), letting the dogs out, running errands, doctor appointments, trips to Dallas, fixing grilled cheese when I'm sick...you never miss a beat!!!

Forever Young! Graduation at A&M...

You are beautiful inside and out, and yes it's true, people ALWAYS ask if we are sisters when we are out together, and no I don't mind. I always wanted an older sister.

To my Mother, my best friend...thank you. Thank you for making sure I knew Jesus, He changed my life. Thank you for love mixed with expectation and discipline. I could never have asked for more! Happy Mother's Day!
